My life before Invictus was a mess to say the least. I was very over worked and tired all the time. I ran around and either didn't eat at all or ate what was fast and easy. Stress ran my life so I was unaware that I was doing damage to myself and my body.
My life now that I have been coming to Invictus is a total transformation experience. I started this journey with a very bad attitude and no trust in this process. If it hadn't been for the company I worked for, as they were members, I don't know if I would have found Invictus at all. I was hesitant but decided that I would join the group and try it. OMG that was the day that changed my life FOREVER!!!! I say this with tears in my eyes and love and gratitude in my heart.
My quality of life is better and I have had results that are so far off the charts that I can't ever explain it to anyone. Losing not only 15 lbs, and 10.5 % body fat, I am completely impressed with the support and dedication that all of the guys have given me, as I could have not done this without them pushing me to be better every day.
They help you MIND, BODY, and SOUL Don't be afraid, don't be insecure. It works. I promise you Invictus WORKS!!!! I have never experienced anything better to help me be healthy and independent. I feel amazing!!!!
I have been into fitness in some form or another for most of my adult life. Before joining Invictus, most of the last 10 years was spent training in a traditional gym, supplemented by forays into a couple of the well-known high-intensity-interval-training (HIIT) type formats. This worked OK, but not great. I found that the palpable sense of competition in the room would prompt people to push themselves to the point of injury. This was exacerbated by the fact that there were no resources on hand to monitor correct form, and so as a result many of us walked around day in, day out with chronic aches and pains. I also felt that the pace of each guided workout was unnecessarily frenetic - red-lining one’s heart rate for 60 full minutes 5X per week is not only unpleasant, it can actually be counterproductive. I just don’t believe it needs to be like that to achieve results. As a result, I found myself actually dreading my workouts. Once they started, I would continuously glance at the clock, only to find that it had only advanced a few minutes since the last glance. So, I was ready for something new.
Then I found Invictus. I’m really proud of the results I’ve seen in just 3 short months. My muscle tone is improved, my clothes all fit noticeably looser, and my energy is fantastic. Due to Invictus’ focus on priming and movement, my chronic pains have subsided. Outside of the gym, I am an avid cyclist and mountain-bike rider, and I’m blown away at the impact Invictus has had. I have shaved minutes off of literally every lifetime Personal-Record I have on the various courses I ride! That is a huge feat, I have never witnessed that kind of progress. On the mountain bike trails, I can jump, maneuver, and throw my bike around in a way I would not have found possible before. In fact, a lot of things in everyday life seem more effortless - whether its working around the yard, running around with the kids, or just pushing a heavy cart at Costco… things seems lighter and more manageable.
Just try it. You’ll immediately take notice of the sense of community and camaraderie. In fact, by the time you’ve completed a class or two you’ll know everyone’s name in the class - that just doesn’t happen in a big-box gym. Also, the talent of the guys running the show is extraordinary - these guys know what they are doing. They continuously watch your form to make sure you avoid injury and get the most benefit from each movement, each set, each workout. They can get you to the next level, whatever that may be for you.
Over the last year at Invictus, my successes have been tremendous. If you had told me In the summer of 2019, I would go to a gym, sign up, and actually use my membership; I would’ve laughed at you. I hated “gyms” I was scared of them; I thought I’d be laughed at because I am in NO WAY athletic.
But then I met the crazy guys at Invictus and realized it’s not actually like that. So I committed to myself to just try it. Not going to lie; in the beginning it was a struggle, and in some moments discouraging to watch others lift heavier, go further, or not having to take breaks. But I powered through those damaging and negative thoughts in my head, I told myself "don’t worry about other people, worry about YOU!"
So I did just that. But it still wasn't easy. I had started going consistently, but I took a month off for an old injury, then covid happened, and I had NO desire to do virtual. I let the pandemic take over and stopped going. It wasn't until Josh and Kamal lit a fire and said, get your butt back in here! I slowly committed to coming back 3 times a week if I felt up to it, but my consistency, desire, and motivation wasn’t always there.
Now my successes have made me remember my WHY’s. I got on the InBody and screamed with glee when I GAINED 5 lbs of muscle and lost 4% fat in one month! Now to some, that’s not much, but to me, that is a huge success! I am noticing definition in muscles I never saw before, my clothes are fitting better, I'm feeling stronger, and even had someone tell me I was looking leaner.
Among all that, my balance has gotten better, my form has gotten better, I am lifting weights I never thought I’d lift, I don’t take nearly as many breaks as I did when I first started, and overall am feeling much more confident. I honestly owe it to Josh and Kamal for keeping me on track, even on the days and weeks I didn’t want to. Also, the support of the 6:30 am class, you guys help me laugh it off when I don’t want to be there. I can't wait for the successes I'll be proud of in a few more months!
